What’s the timeline?
Though participants should submit brief background research by June 10th, they don’t have to submit their research reports/engineering designs (first draft) until July 10th. Therefore, participants can complete most of their work in the summer break. The final report should be submitted by July 24th. All the submissions will be done online.
What kind of projects can participate?
This year’s competition is for individual projects but we have research fund for the top projects to expand and develop their ideas after our competition.
Can I use a project I have worked on before?
Students may use the individual/group projects they have worked on previously, but they must demonstrate their individual contribution and creativity along with the improvement made in the course of our competition. If a project previously involved multiple students, they may select a representative to participate, but ISEC judges will only consider the representative’s work. We also encourage brand-new projects even if they cannot be fully completed by the Finalist Day. Students who can demonstrate their potential or the potential of their projects have a good chance to win the $1000, $500, and $250 research funds.
Is there an age limit?
Our sponsors and founders welcome everyone to participate. We accept students aged 11-18 years old; we also compiled research guides for students without any prior experience in science fairs.
